A Case of Collodion Baby

Abstract

|
Collodion baby is inherited as autosomal recessive trait and characterized by collodion-like membrane envelope, which is made from thickened stratum corneum, over the entire body at birth. A 2300 g neonate was delivered by normal spontaneous
vaginal
delivery at 39 weeks' gestation. The newborn baby showed a collodion-like envelope over the entire body. Thereafter. Peelings were beginning and membrane was cast off in 10 days. Light and electron microscopic examinations of the lesions were
consistent
with collodion baby.
